Our Principles

Ministry Philosophy and Guiding Principles

By knowing & understanding our ministry philosophy and guiding principles, we will be better able to determine:
  • Our Scope of Ministry - this speaks to our vision & reach
  • Our Experience in Light of our Message - this speaks to our consistency
  • Our Programs in Light of our Vision - this speaks to meeting needs according to vision not program popularity
  • Our Balance and Focus on Essentials - this speaks to what is primary & what is secondary
  • Our Development of Future Ministries - this speaks to having clear & intended purpose & outcomes for ministries
Our ministry philosophy is why we do, what we do!

We have developed 12 guiding principles for our church that help define who we are.

It's About Jesus

1. Church should be a place where we not only learn about Jesus but also experience Jesus. (Is 2:3, Col 3:16, Heb 10:21-25)

Looking In

2. Because ministry flows out of being and not programs, the quality and reach of our ministry is directly related to the depth of our own personal character. (Prov 4:23, Ps 15)

3. God’s Word has final authority in life and ministry. (Jn 1:1, Ps 33:6, Ps 119:89, Is 40:8)

It's About People

4. Every person is valuable and gifted by God to minister and serve in the church therefore it is vital that people discover their gifts and then are released to do what they have been gifted to do. (Eph 4:11-16, 1 Cor 12)

The Commission

5. Our responsibility as a church is to make disciples who know how to make disciples. (Matt 28:18-20, Mark 16:15-20)

It's About the Holy Spirit

6. True power for living cannot be achieved apart from the baptism of the Holy Spirit and developing a spirit formed life. (Acts 1:8, Titus 3:5)

FIVE E-Missions

7. The five tier mission of Living Truth, Changing Lives, Loving God:

a. Evangelism – Communicating the gospel in relevant ways that reach both the heart and soul of the unchurched. (Mk 16:15, Jn 3:16, Luke 19:10)

b. Edification – Turning decisions into disciples, disciples into leaders, leaders who will reach their generation for Christ. (Matt 28:18-20, 2 Tim 3:16-17)

c. Experience – Demonstrating the power of the Holy Spirit and the presence of God which is able to transform lives. (Mk 16:17-20, Jn 14:12, Acts 4:33, Acts 6:8)

d. Enlargement – Reaching other communities in partnership with God who will in turn reach other communities who will partner with God. (Is 54:2-3, 1 Chron 4:10)

e. Excellence – Offering ministry with excellence while demonstrating substance not just image. (1 Cor 7:17, 1 Cor 14:40, Titus 1:5)

Looking Up

8. Devotion to prayer and worship is intentional, invoking the presence of God in life and ministry. (1 Chron 16:11, Matt 7:7, Phil 4:6, James 5:13-16, 2 Chron 5:13, Ps 5:7, Ps 29:2, Jn 4:24)

The Invitation

9. People experience God in church when the proper context and habitation has been established. (Eph 2:19-22)

Dynamic Duo

10. Church celebration should be Word driven and Spirit led. (1 Thess 2:13, 2 Tim 3:16, Jn 16:13)
