It all begins with a seed...
Everything in Creation began with a SPOKEN WORD by GOD. Words are like SEEDS. Pastor Gary has taught that words are like “CONTAINERS.” They contain the power to REPRODUCE life or death wherever they are sown. Proverbs 18:21 tells us: Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.
Here’s a truth about God we all need to understand: God always operates within His laws and principles.
"By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible."
Church, every time God speaks, He creates:
"By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, and all the stars by the breath of His mouth."
Every time God speaks or makes a statement …it becomes FACT and it becomes LAW:
"For He spoke, and it came to be; He commanded, and it stood fast."
This shows us that when God says something it is so, and it becomes LAW. Let’s read again what God has to say about the Law of Seedtime and Harvest:
"While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night… shall not cease."
God is saying that here is a foundational principal (or law) within which I operate. It will remain in force as long as the earth remains. When God clearly defines a principle in His Word – it’s time to pay attention!
He is clearly letting us know here that this principle is KEY to our understanding of HIS RULE – His way of doing things. He’s also showing us here that no one can escape this principle. It is in operation in your life whether you choose to believe it or not.
You may not believe the sun will rise tomorrow, but as long as the earth remains – the sun is going to rise! You may not believe that winter is coming, but no doubt about it – winter is on its way! You may not believe that words have power, but according to God’s principle of Seedtime and Harvest (sowing and reaping,) in light of what we just read in Proverbs 18:21: "Everything you think, say, and do, will act as a SEED, and will produce a HARVEST of fruit in your life, both good and bad."
It’s a sobering thought that you and I cannot operate outside of this Law of Seedtime and Harvest.
Even the unbelieving – those not a part of God’s family – operate under the Genesis Principle as stated in Matthew 5:45: "For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust."
Church…No one is EXEMPT! Seedtime and Harvest affects us all. So, what do we know about this law and, and how it relates to the words we speak? The first thing we need to understand is that there is a MULTIPLICATION FACTOR connected to this principle.
Seeds grow up and mature, but that’s not all they do: they also multiply. Take an apple, for example. Next time you hold an apple in your hand, realize you’re not just holding a single apple. Within that apple there are seeds with the potential to grow many apples! What does this have to do with the words we speak?
Beloved, because words are seeds and seeds are connected to a multiplication factor, the words that we speak to one another have the potential to affect GENERATIONS!
You see, when you use your words to CURSE your SPOUSE, those words have the power to CURSE your CHILDREN. When you CURSE your CHILDREN…you CURSE your GRANDCHILDREN. When you CURSE your GRANDCHILDREN… you CURSE your BLOODLINE.
When you CURSE your BOSS…you CURSE your COMPANY. When you CURSE your PASTOR … you CURSE YOUR CHURCH! When you CURSE your NEIGHBOR … you’re sowing discord into the land and as a result you CURSE the neighborhood. Why is this so? Because the SEED PRODUCES AFTER ITS KIND, and because there is a MULTIPLICATION FACTOR connected to the Law of Seedtime and Harvest.
Here’s the Good News:
- When you use your words to BLESS your SPOUSE… you BLESS your CHILDREN
- When you BLESS your CHILDREN… you BLESS your GRANDCHILDREN
- When you BLESS your GRANDCHILDREN… you BLESS your BLOODLINE
Church…like it or not: Every day – in one way or another – we are all PLANTING! And, the SEEDS we SOW will multiply and produce a HARVEST that will affect us, our families, our neighbors, and our land for GENERATIONS to come! Do the words we speak to one another matter? You better believe they do! Every one of us is a product of words spoken TO us and THROUGH us!
On my journey of healing, God dealt with me concerning “the one thing that I lackest” which I shared in the beginning of this series (please read the article marked: Introduction). As a result, I became more and more aware of the words that I spoke:
- I believed God’s Word when it said in Proverbs 18:21, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit thereof.”
- I believed God’s Word when it said in Mark 11:23, “Whosoever believes and does not doubt in his heart shall have “whatsoever they sayeth.”
Pastor and I became very intentional in praying, speaking, agreeing, and believing God’s Word over our life and our family, and today, we’re enjoying its fruit.
Be encouraged to know it is never too late to plant the SEED of GOD’S WORD into your life and family. Next week, we will look at the importance of sowing in GOOD SOIL.
